Blue Door

At the end of March, Anya got a week off school, and Justin took a few days off work, so we could bring our big family to the beautiful Oregon coast to enjoy the Pacific Ocean. I mostly wore jeans and brightly colored linen shirts under a cozy boiled wool jacket, but I also packed this maxi dress for lounging at home and strolling to a wonderful little restaurant just a few steps down the street. It was a peaceful and restoring Spring break. I will work on photos as soon as I get more time on my hands. For now, I want to share with you this little photo session. Blue Door is the name of the cottage where we stayed. But it can also be an imaginary door, similar to the one from a psychedelic new wave song White Door. You cannot get lost in an imaginary jungle, and there is no sense to fear an imaginary animal - it won't eat you. But an imaginary door you can open.

Alla Pugacheva, White Door (1984)

Photos by Justin, except for the last one in a cafe - that one is by Anya.

Dress - Chico's
Jacket - Old Navy
Shoes - Crocks

  2. Natalia!! Are these photos near Astoria/Seaside?? We are there right now!! We are on spring break this week and drove down to enjoy the Oregon coast. In fact, I think I saw these vacation rentals today as a matter of fact. We're having surprisingly fantastic weather too.
You sure dress nicely on the coast. I brought nothing but hoodies and jeans. Guess I felt like being casual. Can't wait to see the rest of your photos and hear more about your vacation.

    1. Joni, yes, it's right there - what a coincidence! I hope you have a wonderful Spring break! I love all those little villages and the magnificent nature, it's so revitalizing, isn't it?

    2. It's been very revitalizing and enjoying lots of laughs with our son. We've had great weather until today but we're on our way back so all is good. We're at the Holiday Inn right at the base of the Bridge heading to Long Beach. I think we'll look in to a cabin rental next time.

  3. You look utterly decompressed and relaxed in these photos. I relax just looking at them. I can imagine what it feels like to stroll to the restaurant just down the road in this beautiful maxi dress. I'm glad your whole family got time away to enjoy fresh scenery.

    1. It's probably not warm enough, but I just love going bare foot - my favorite state to be. :)

  8. How beautifully put, that we can open imaginary doors :-) Your maxi dress is lovely on you, it suits your figure and your colours very well, and it looks very stylish with the cute sandals. I don't believe I've ever seen this type of Crocs footwear - only those enormous plastic things. These are so pretty!

    1. Thanks, Tine! Most of obstacles as well as doors are in our imagination... so why not imagine things that uplift us and move us forward? These are my most favorite shoes. :)

  11. I do love blue doors...in my region all the wood doors and window shuts used to be painted blue or green..many still are, but tradional wood doors and windows are expensive and hence not as a common....that house looks wonderful...and like a perfect place to relax.

You look beautiful in that maxi dress...such a lovely dress and pattern.
